Yes, it has been 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution which ensured the right to vote for women!
Washington State was the 5th state in the nation where women won the right to vote (before the amendment was ratified nationally in 1920).
I'm grateful to the suffragettes and the many other people that worked hard, struggled, and sacrificed so women have the right to vote today!
I'm also excited to share that my art, "Resonating Truth," has been juried into a beautiful show celebrating the 2020 Suffrage Centennial in Washington at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, Washington.
This engaging exhibit was organized by the Washington State Historical Society. All the collages in the exhibit relate to women getting the right to vote.
The show runs April 9 to November 8, 2020, but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it's not clear when the show will open and close as a physical, in-person event.
For now, you can enjoy the online exhibit by clicking here.
Be sure to click on the photo for each artwork to read the artist's statement about their piece. Many of these works were inspired by courageous suffragettes and fascinating suffrage history, so you don't want to miss this aspect of the show.

In addition, the Washington State History Museum is hosting a live, streaming event via Facebook on June 4, 2020 at 6PM to 6:45PM PST which will include looking at some of the collages in the exhibit and discussing how you can make your own suffrage history collage with images from the Historical Society’s collection.
You must have a Facebook account to attend.
